The Ostrum Federation

The Ostrum Federation is made up of a series of eleven colony planets (excluding their smaller orbiting planets and moons) in the Indigo district, with Ostrum acting as the central government.

The Ostrum Federation is a key player in the Alliance.

The planets closest to Ostrum’s orbit fall under closer management of their internal affairs, while those farther away are subject to less scrutiny and are more independent and enjoy more internal autonomy.

OSTRUM

The Planet Ostrum is a planet of medium size. It is a deep shade of indigo. The planet is split into three layers: The Surface, The Upper Core, and the Core.

The members of the alien species on this planet have purple-toned skin, shades that get paler as one moves into the center of the planet. Their skin is semi-translucent, with arteries and veins clearly visible. It is soft and each layer somewhat delicate, yet thick, similar to a worm. They have shafts within their bodies: below their ribs and under their jawbones that allow them to ventilate their bodies under intense heat and arid weather, and that trap heat within under cold. They can close and open these shafts at will.

This section has two columns!

The Surface is sparsely populated: covered entirely by dark sands, ravaged by intense heat and freezing cold. Yet, it is not inhabitable, and low, flat structures are dotted across, barely visible from space.

The Upper Core is found underground, accessible from a few checkpoints on the surface that lead into deep tunnels. Most of the planet’s population resides here; they are the entirety of the middle class. Their culture makes up the popular culture of The Ostrum Federation: styles they celebrate are propagated throughout their colonies.

The Core lies deeper than the Upper Core, and is home to a smaller subset of people. This is where the Cult was founded. It is the leaders of the Federation who reside here, ruling their colonies from the heart of the planet. It should be noted that this is not truly the core of the planet, it is several thousand miles in fact from the core of magma, and they do not suffer from intense heat as a result of their proximity and remarkable infrastructure.
